An autobiography by Guy Sanderson Shirra who arrived in Hong Kong in 1967 as a Probationary Inspector of Police fresh from a VSO teaching post in Sarawak.
After a 3 month Cantonese course, he was thrown in the deep end of the 1967 Confrontation.
The book covers his early years in the UK, his time in Sarawak and his 30 years in the Royal Hong Kong Police serving in CID, the Tai Kwun and Special Branch and commanding in Tsim Sha Tsui and both the West Kowloon Emergency and Tactical Units before taking voluntary early retirement as a Superintendent in June 1997.
